I. SAFETY POLICIES
The staff is informed of safety rules, special hazards, and commonly occurring accidents. They receive detailed instruction on evacuation procedures, use of fire extinguishers, and how to report an accident. There is one staff member on duty at ail times who has a current first aid CPR certificate.
A. Prevention
- Fighting is not allowed; running and throwing of objects are not allowed except as a supervised part of the curriculum, ie. physical education.
Knives, guns, or other weapons (real or toy) are not allowed on campus and will be confiscated.- All poisonous substances are stored out of reach.
- The locations of the fuse box, main electrical power switch, and the water main valves are known to each staff member. The electricity shall be cut off at the main switch in the event of electrical fire or tornado warning.
- At any time the children leave the building as a group, they are required to walk in an orderly fashion and are accompanied by the staff and other adults if deemed necessary.
B. Emergencies
- Fire
The School conforms to all fire regulations as designated by the State Fire Marshal. A fire evacuation plan and alternate is drawn and posted in th school. The 911 emergency number and the exact address of the building are posted by each telephone. Fire drills are held quarterly. The fire alarm system, emergency power pack lights, and fire extinguishers are checked yearly for proper function. All staff members know how to use the fire extinguishers.- Inclement Weather.
A battery-operated NAOO weather radio is at the front desk and on at all times. In case of severe weather, staff will tune to the local radio station for weather information.- Power Failure
Flashlights in working order are kept in each classroom. Power Pack emergency lights are installed to light each exit.
